日暮苍山远

tiān hán bái wū pín 

天寒白屋贫

（天气寒冷，使茅屋显得更加清贫）

The cold weather made the crude hut look even poorer

cháimén wén quǎn fèi 

柴门闻犬吠

（听见柴门外传来一阵狗叫声）

I heard a dog barking outside the wooden gate

fēng xuě yè guī rén

风雪夜归人

（原来是夜间冒着风雪回家的人）

[It turned out] to be someone who came home in the wind and snow at night
