Language Player

To help create the videos for this course, Jon created his own website as a tool to highlight his teaching points in a clear and helpful way and to help students experience the vocabulary/grammar in a native setting.

Realizing he was on to something, he flushed out the features and expanded on it to include a multitude of other languages, and created Language Player. It provides videos with an interactive transcript that follows along as you watch, underlines verbs, has a pop-up dictionary and English translations, the ability to save words to study later, and more.

Language Player is an app that has expanded to cover over 200 languages. You can sign up for free to use our app, but you will be restricted to seeing only the first 10 lines of a video's transcript and are only able to see only 2 examples of words in videos. Upgrading to a Pro Account will remove these restrictions. For more information, check out the video below or view Language Player's homepage

We recommend you review each vocabulary and grammar point on Language Player. On Language Player, you can find examples of the words used in videos, along with definitions, pronunciations, and images from the web.

Vocabulary

To study vocabulary, you can select the Vocabulary tab and search for the word, or browse through "Zhongwen Kaoshi - HSK 7-9 Words" under the "Word Lists" section.

Grammar

To find grammar points on Language Player, navigate to Resources > click on Grammar at the top > select HSK 7-9, or from the grammar section, you can enter a keyword to search.

At the HSK 7-9 level, it is recommended that you spend an additional 3,500 hours in Language Player engaging with Chinese content. We hope you enjoy Language Player and best of luck on your language learning journey. Language Player is optional content for this course.
